CUPCAKES AND DAISIES - Chasing one dream at a time

Who’s ready to take some AWESOME pictures??

I always used to wonder how everyone gets such beautiful pictures! Like they must have this fancy smancy camera that costs an arm and two legs…

NOPE! You can use your Iphone to take some stunning pics!

Here’s what I do!

  1. Lighting. Lighting is the farmost important element. I like to use natural light when I can. Indoor lighting is always off. Its a mix of yellows and whites. Not cool. Today I took my mini photoshoot to my back yard for a little fun!
  2. Background. This is almost as important as your lighting! Keep it clutter free. Keep it simple and bright! Check out what I did for this photo shoot. I went to Home Depot  and bought the samples for their laminate counters/flooring. And WOW does this look impressive! I think I paid $0.90 for this one… Like how is that not worth it??
  3. Set up. Obviously this is important too. You want it to be appealing to look at. Keep all angles going different directions. Add different elements of sleek lines and natural elements (plus I have a succulent addiction). I run a gold mine of a business with a company called It Works! So I had to add my favorite botanical based, fat shrinking wrap into this photoshoot!!!
  4. Iphone Time. Now this is where we get to the good stuff. Think about what the most important element is in your set up. The one thing you really want to focus on. Tap your screen with your finger on that item to focus on it! WOAH that was easy! It’ll automatically brighten it up a bit, and sharpen your image! Now your ready to take your picture!
  5. Editing. Since I like to do everything on my phone, I use an app called PicTapGo. I think I paid somewhere around $1.99 for this one. But it’s totally worth it since I use it daily. I focus on the filters called Crispity, Contrast, Highlights, and well that’s mostly it.

It’s that easy… Just remember…LIGHTING, LIGHTING, LIGHTING! The best is natural light, and you should be golden! It’s as easy as it looks. Let me know how it works for you! Love to hear from ya!

If you’re looking for more info on how you can be a part of my Gold Mine of a business, lets chat! It’s fun to work from your phone!

Carrot Cake for the win!

Carrot cake…it just makes me think that I’m eating healthy. Am I? No, of course not! But it’s the thought that counts, right? No one eats cake to feel good about themselves. But it is ohhhh sooooo worth it! The only thing better than eating it is making it!

Now I normally make those healthy recipes…but today I just had to share this amazing carrot cake recipe, because, well it was AMAZING! You literally will never make another cake again.

Look at those layers!

What You’ll Need

1½ cups white sugar

½ cup coconut oil

3 eggs

¾ cup sour milk, put 1 tsp lemon juice in a your measuring cup and then fill to ¾ cup with milk, let sit for 3-5 minutes

2 tsp vanilla

2 cups flour, I did one cup whole wheat one cup all purpose

2½ tsp cinnamon

2 tsp baking soda

½ tsp salts

2 cup finely shredded carrot. (don’t do the big shred or they will still be a little crunchy even after cooking)

1 cup apple sauce ( or crushed pineapple)

1 cup shredded coconut

What You’ll Do

Preheat oven to 350 and grease and flour two circle cake pans. (I also lined mine with a cutout of waxed paper to make them come out nice and perfect (picture below)

In your mixer or with a hand mixer, combine sugar, oil, eggs and milk. Mix well.

Add vanilla and mix until combined

Add flour, cinnamon, baking soda and salt and mix until combined.

Next fold in the carrots, coconut, and apple sauce. Fold them in until they are evenly distributed throughout the cake.

Pour half of the batter into each cake pan.

Bake at 350 for 45-50 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean from center of cake.

Let cool completely before frosting.

Enjoy this wonderful goodness 🙂

I am a wisher, a dreamer, a doer.

And I NEVER liked the idea of a 9-5 job working for someone else. Yes it has its perks, but why wouldn’t you want to work f
or yourself?? So I figured why not become a freelance designer? So I did! So here is what I do…

A Day in the Life of a Freelancer

  1. I wake up when I want (usually around 8am) and enjoy a hot cup of coffee and puppy snuggles…You’ll see more of Gus later…You’ll also fall in love with him
  2. I check my email, and probably have another cup of coffee (I may or may not be addicted)
  3. Depending on the day, I move my office outside, to the coffee shop, or elsewhere to get some serious work done! My day is always different when it comes to what I do! Some days I sit on my laptop all day with my nerd glasses on, as I focus on my graphic images. Other days I sit outside on the deck, painting my life away! Lately I’ve taken up calligraphy and have been practicing my lettering! This is sooo much more fun than I ever imagined!
  4. Then I usually the gym for a lot of sweat and a little relaxation
  5. I do any follow ups and answer any of your questions and call it a day!

This may sound like the perfect day… and well it usually is. I love what I do and wouldn’t give it up for anything. Some days are crazy and insane, but so worth it!

Who wants to know what my favorite part of what I do is?!?

hello-world

“How wonderful is it that nobody needs to wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”

We all have dreams, hopes, and something that inspires all of them. I did too.

I was stuck in the whirlwind of the 9-5 corporate structure, and I new there was more waiting for me. So I decided to go find it.

I quit my job, cold turkey. That might sound crazy, but I needed to. I wasn’t happy. I just wasn’t in the right place. I knew I could do something amazing. I began a journey of health, wellness, art, creativity, and to help others start their journey too!

I can’t wait to share with you my journey! I can succeed. you can too!

By the way… any day that can start like this is about a thousand times better than a day job 🙂
